Events on the same day in Greek and Turkish cities, symbolically connected.

OUR PROPOSAL
We propose establishing April 4 as Greek–Turkish Friendship Day: an annual occasion for people, groups and communities from both countries to meet.
The initiative begins with citizens. It requires neither political alignment nor agreement on everything; it rests on voluntary participation and the responsibility of everyone who chooses to contribute.
A recurring date gives the effort continuity. An introduction can develop into collaboration, and a local idea can find partners on the other shore.
Our aim is to make room for that contact in everyday life: through relationships and initiatives that participants themselves can sustain.
MEMORY
We honor those who suffered through wars, persecution and displacement. Recognizing their suffering does not require one shared interpretation of history or an equation of responsibilities. It calls on us to protect future generations from renewed violence.
«We do not celebrate because we have forgotten.
We meet because we remember.»
